Late 18th to early 19th century engraving depicting the celebrated Belvedere Torso, one of the most influential surviving sculptures of classical antiquity. Housed in the Vatican since the Renaissance, the fragmented marble became a cornerstone of academic artistic study and was famously admired by Michelangelo for its powerful anatomy and expressive form. Engravings such as this were collected during the Grand Tour era and used in European academies as studies of idealized Greco Roman beauty. Presented in a gilt frame with cream matting. Light foxing and age toning consistent with age.
