Original 19th century oil painting of Ludwig van Beethoven after, signed J. Lietz, circa 1880. A period hand-painted interpretation of the iconic romanticized Beethoven image, shown half-length in formal attire and turned slightly left. Image size approximately 17.1 x 12 inches; overall framed size approximately 22.4 x 19.5 inches. Condition consistent with age, including two old repairs, minor indentations, and areas of paint loss. A classic 19th century decorative portrait, ideal for a study or music-inspired interior.
